Need to update your restaurant opening hours for a special date or over public holidays such as Easter, ANZAC or Christmas?


We all know there are times of the year where restaurant opening hours need to be changed to account for special events and local/public holidays.  Whether or not, your're closing, extending or shortening your opening hours you want to make sure you're able to receive bookings during opening hours. Changing your restaurants Bookable Hours is easy to do on your Eveve E.diary. 


Why should you update your E.Diary? 
So you don't get bookings for days you're closed.
To make sure your restaurant is bookable when diners search for an eatery in a given area. 


How to update restaurant opening hours to CLOSED on specific dates:

1. Open your E.Diary and go to the Grid or table view

2.  Select the 'Opening Hours' drop down in the 'menu' button 

3. A grey pop up window will appear called 'Restaurant Opening Hours'



4. Right click in the top right box titled 'Special Dates'

5. Select 'Add date' 

6. Type in the date the restaurant is closed using DD/MM/YY format

7. Under the 'Rota' drop down menu select ' closed'




8. Click 'save'

9. You'll see the added date appear in the 'Special Dates' section of the pop up window

9. Click 'save' and the pop up window will disappear. 



How to update restaurant opening hours for shorter/longer hours on specific dates:


1. Open your E.Diary and go to the Grid or table view

2.  Select the 'Opening Hours' drop down in the 'menu' button 

3. A grey pop up window will appear 

4. Select the 'New Rota' button from the 'Rota Sessions' section



5. Add in your preferred name, i.e. Public Holidays, Easter, etc. 

6. Right click in the white box in the 'Rota Sessions' box

7. Select 'Add' and a pop up window will appear

8. Input the details into the 'session details' pop up window using the drop down menus


Session Details Key:
Type -
This flows through to the internet and helps direct internet searches 
Name - this is what will appear to your customers when they go to use the booking form on the internet
First/Last Booking - This controls the times that will be bookable
Table Plan - Ignore this, it is used for complex set-ups
Suppress Online Bookings for this session - You can stop online bookings for this session, using this tool but it is better to use booking restrictions
C/C required for more than [  ] covers - This is advanced set up, leave blank or call us to discuss set-up
No online bookings for same day made after - This allows you to stop people from being able to book on the same day after this time
Online Booking Message - This allows you to enter a message which will appear on the booking form when customers select this session eg. Lunch during their online booking process



9. If you'd also like to include a specific online booking message you can (i.e. Public Holiday surcharge fee is 20%, We have no surcharge fee on public holidays, Children's Easter Egg hunt at 11am, etc.) Simply fill in the 'Online booking message' box with the relevant text. 

10. Click 'save' 

11. Repeat steps 4-9 for each service (i.e Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

12. Once all of your sessions have been added to the new Rota follow the instructions from the above CLOSED section and instead of selecting 'closed' select the new rota you created, i.e 'Public Holiday'. 



13. Click 'save' and the pop up window will disappear. 

To edit a Rota session or special date, simply right click in the top right box titled 'Special Dates' and/or Rota Sessions' section.  

To check everything is set up the way you want - In the 'Grid' use the calendar to go to the dates you have changed and you will see the hours are different if you have gotten everything right.
